Position: SHEQ Manager

Job Description:

We currently require a SHEQ Manager with a wealth of construction industry knowledge and
experience. They will be used to working in a fast-paced environment; multitasking, prioritising and
taking a hands-on approach, leading to effective outcomes with high standards at the fore. The
manager will join at a middle-management level of an existing SHEQ team and will help to lead with
determination and optimism.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Writing and submitting to clients carefully considered RAMS for clients, for wide-ranging construction-related works.
  • Reviewing and submitting RAMs for any subcontracted works.
  • Carrying out company and/ or site inductions for new employees, including Face Fit Testing for site operatives.
  • Monitoring and reviewing of occupational health medical screenings.
  • Regularly attending work sites to undertake thorough site audits.
  • Attending client/ site meetings; representing and promoting the business from a Health & Safety standpoint.
  • Carrying out incident investigations for both accidents and near misses; ensuring quality reporting within reasonable timescales. Also ensuring that root causes are recognised and that corrective actions are applied.
  • Overseeing both internal and external SHEQ training.
  • Providing ongoing Health & Safety related advice to operatives; including delivering Tool Box Talks/ safety briefings (either site-based or digitally).
  • Procuring and managing the distribution of PPE across the business.
  • Completing and monitoring valuable accreditations, e.g. questionnaires to ensure compliance.
  • Cooperating and working with external consultants for RISQS audits (railway).
  • Seeking continuous improvement surrounding all SHEQ related business and processes; sometimes developing and implementing new procedures.
  • Keeping abreast of any new industry-related legislation and ensuring the adherence of this across Company policies, procedures, technical standards and codes of practice.
  • Attending and influencing outcomes at monthly SHEQ meetings.
  • Other ad hoc SHEQ-related tasks where required.

Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or other similar Health & Safety qualification.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not essential.
  • Membership of relevant professional body (IOSH or equivalent) preferred but not essential.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a SHEQ role.
  • A construction background.
  • A firm grasp of construction-related HSW legislation, in particular, legislation surrounding ISOs 9001, 14001 and 45001.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence with the willingness and flexibility to travel to sites across the UK at short notice.

Position: Contracts Manager

Location: In-Person, Whitstable Head Office and Site-Based

Salary: From Competitive/ DOE

Hours: 7.30am to 5.30pm or 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday

Holidays: 28 Days P/A Inclusive of Bank & Public Holidays

nationwide. Our highly trained and accredited professionals have paved the way in us becoming an
industry leader.

We are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager, with a solid background in end-to-end
project management, to assist and develop the business. The successful applicant will know the
sector well and will have extensive knowledge surrounding diamond drilling, diamond sawing, wire
sawing, Brokk demolition and all other similar specialist works.

This opportunity will suit a confident individual with a self-sufficient and motivated attitude;
although senior management support will be provided.

This job is based from our offices in Whitstable, Kent but site visits would form a significant part of
the role.

Job Description/ Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Taking initial job enquiries over the phone or via email and pricing works appropriately (in line with schedule of rates); making site visits where necessary.
  • Working closely with the Operations Manager to programme and to allocate operatives.
  • Managing the distribution and use of plant and equipment, both company owned and hired.
  • Producing relevant RAMs and Health & Safety documents, ensuring that these are adhered to.
  • Liaising with site management teams, to ensure that all involved are aware of our work processes.
  • Delegating any necessary arrangements for operatives working away, in good time. For example, accommodation and meal expenses.
  • Frequently liaising with operatives, offering guidance and support wherever required.
  • Overseeing jobs and their timescales (including attending weekly site meetings) and ensuring they are carried out to a high spec before final sign-off.
  • Reporting any issues to Health & Safety where relevant.
  • Cost management of each project and crossover with Finance department, ensuring the correct and timely payment from customers. Checking all invoices and ensuring that figures are correct.
  • Managing own workload, keeping clients up to date with costs, delays or factors that may affect work/ timescales.
  • Ensure updated or changed plans are confirmed with QS team.
  • Chasing any outstanding worksheets and also staying on top of your own.
  • Overseeing operatives’ overtime, ensuring the correct amount is offered/ allowed and reported to Payroll.
  • Business development: Making initial introductions, client proposals and following any new leads.
  • Maintaining relationships with existing customers through conversations, events and meetings on and off-site.
  • Covering colleagues when on leave, ensuring that you treat every job as your own if someone is on holiday.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Contracts Manager role.
  • A construction-related background, with extensive experience in diamond drilling, diamond sawing and other associated activities.
  • In date SMSTS and CSCS tickets.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confident individual, capable of managing any situation on site.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence with the willingness and flexibility to travel to sites across the UK at short notice.

Position: Workshop Fitter

Location: Head Office workshop – Whitstable, Kent

Type: Full-time

Start Date: Immediate

Salary: Approx £31,500.00 per annum DOE or pro rata’d for part-time

Hours: Monday – Friday, part-time or full-time (with overtime available)

Holidays: 28 days per annum inclusive of bank & public holidays

Overview:

This position has become available within a dynamic group of companies based in Whitstable, Kent.
CA Drillers Ltd, CA Fire Protection Ltd and CA Telecom Ltd currently employ 120+ staff with further
plans for expansion and we’re looking for a new member of staff to join our hardworking team.

We require an experienced, highly organised and proficient workshop fitter, to ensure the
functioning, safety, and efficiency of equipment and plant. Working closely with our Workshop
Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining productivity through hands-on repair activities
along with some other workshop-based duties. You may also train and support other workshop staff in your areas of expertise. The successful candidate must have a positive, friendly, helpful and can-
do attitude.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Working under the supervision of our Workshop Manager but also able to work on your own in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Fault diagnosing and repairing a wide range of plant and equipment; from petrol saws to small 110v hand tools.
  • Inspecting mechanical/electrical components and remedying faults accordingly.
  • Carrying out required function testing of equipment.
  • Setting up all new plant and equipment.
  • Keeping daily records, maintaining service sheets and other related paperwork.
  • Supporting other workshop staff and apprentices, where appropriate and necessary.
  • Other ad hoc workshop related tasks, where appropriate and necessary.

Requirements:

  • Relevant fitter/ mechanical qualification – NVQ or equivalent (preferred).
  • Current PAT testing certificate (essential).
  • Experience of repairing electrically powered plant, pneumatic controls and hydraulics. Experience with Hilti tool repairs (preferred).
  • Knowledge, understanding of and a commitment to Health, Safety, and the Environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
