Reinforced Concrete Hydrotherapy Pool Removal in Active Hospital Environment

Project Overview

Our team recently completed the highly controlled removal of a reinforced concrete hydrotherapy pool within a live hospital facility — one of the most sensitive and technically demanding construction environments.

The project was undertaken to facilitate the development of a new and enhanced hospital ward, requiring precision demolition while maintaining uninterrupted healthcare operations.

The Challenge

Working within an active healthcare setting demands exceptional planning and discipline. Infection control, vibration management, noise reduction, and strict safety compliance were critical factors. Every stage of the reinforced concrete removal had to be carefully coordinated to ensure zero disruption to patients, medical staff, and essential hospital services.

Our Approach

A detailed methodology was developed prior to works commencing. This included:

  • Controlled diamond cutting techniques

  • Phased concrete removal

  • Careful lift planning and material handling

  • Continuous monitoring of noise, dust, and vibration levels

Each cut, lift, and movement was meticulously planned and executed to maintain safety and programme certainty.

The Outcome

The hydrotherapy pool was successfully removed on schedule, with no impact on hospital operations. The cleared space is now ready for the construction of a modern, improved hospital ward — supporting enhanced patient care and future healthcare delivery.
